Milio is a pure protector support. Your job is to keep your ADC alive through every threat — shields before damage hits, E slows to peel divers, and R cleanse to negate the most dangerous CC in the game. You don't look for kills; you enable your ADC to carry safely.
Abilities
Skills Overview
P
Fired Up!
Passive
Milio's abilities enchant allies on touch, making their next damage deal a burst of extra damage and burn the target.
Milio's passive fumacha grants nearby allies fire empowered autos that deal bonus magic damage when he uses abilities. Stay close to your ADC to maximize passive uptime.
Q
Ultra Mega Fire Kick
Skillshot · Slow · Bounce
Kick a ball that knocks back an enemy. The ball launches upward on hit and falls toward the enemy, damaging and slowing enemies in the area upon impact.
CD: 10 · Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
Q bounces to a second target after hitting the first — aim at your closest target to bounce it onto the enemy ADC behind them. Works through minion waves.
W
Cozy Campfire
Point-and-click · Shield · Range Extend
Create an empowering zone that heals allies and increases attack range to those inside. The zone follows the ally nearest to the cast point.
CD: 29/27/25/23/21 · Cost: 90/100/110/120/130
W extends your ADC's basic attack range while shielding them. Prioritize casting W on your ADC the moment they engage — the range advantage wins short-trades.
E
Warm Hugs
Point-and-click · Shield · Slow Aura
Milio tosses a shield to an ally, temporarily increasing their movement speed. This ability has 2 charges.
CD: 0.5 · Cost: 50/60/70/80/90
E creates a moving AoE that slows enemies passing through it. Drop it under chasing enemies or between you and a diver to create distance.
R
Breath of Life
AoE · Cleanse · Heal
Milio unleashes a wave of soothing flames that heal and remove crowd control effects from allies in range.
CD: 160/145/130 · Cost: 100
R cleanses all CC and heals. Save it for the most critical CC — an enemy Malzahar R, a Lissandra R, a Zed ult — not just poke damage.

Sustain through early aggressive lanes.
50g
Core Build
Moonstone Renewer

950g
Ardent Censer
Your W triggers Ardent buff on your ADC. The attack speed + magic damage on-hit is devastating for hypercarries.
2300g
Shurelya's Battlesong
Movement speed to reposition and enable your ADC to chase or escape critical moments.
2500g
Situational

2300g
Staff of Flowing Water
Gives AP to allies when you shield them — best with AP carry ADCs like Kayle or Kog.
2300g
Milio builds pure enchanter. Moonstone first always. Then build for your ADC's needs — Ardent for auto-attackers, Staff for AP carries, Mikael's when CC is the enemy win condition.
Anti-CC Core
Mikael's Blessing
Double cleanse (Mikael's + R) makes your ADC immune to two CC chains. Pick vs Morgana, Lux, Leona.
2300g
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
Ability haste for more frequent shields and faster R cooldown.
950g
Moonstone Renewer
Core sustain regardless of build path.
2500g
Redemption
Teamfight healing to keep the whole team healthy post-cleanse.
2300g
Run this build when the enemy team has 3+ hard CC abilities that will lock down your ADC every fight. Double cleanse completely invalidates their engage tools.
Runes
Sorcery Primary
Summon Aery
Procs on every shield and every Q. Constant poke and protection value makes Aery the best keystone for Milio.
Manaflow Band
Milio is very mana hungry. Manaflow Band prevents running OOM mid-fight when you need to spam W shields.
Transcendence
Ability haste amplifies every part of Milio's kit — more shields, more slows, faster R cooldown.
Scorch
Extra early damage on Q poke. Makes Milio's otherwise low damage meaningful in lane.
Resolve Secondary
Font of Life
Q slow marks enemies — your ADC healing from attacking marked targets is strong sustained healing.
Bone Plating
Reduces burst from aggressive lanes like Leona or Blitzcrank who dive onto you.

Gameplay
How to Play Milio
01
Early Game
Poke with Q, Shield for Trades
- Level 1 W lets your ADC out-poke most bot lane pairs. Hit W at the start of each trade — the range extension means your ADC attacks from outside enemy range.
- Q is your primary poke. Angle it to bounce off minions into the enemy backline when they try to CS.
- Don't use R in lane unless it's a guaranteed save. The cooldown is too long to waste on minor CC.
- Stack Spellthief's aggressively with Q poke. You need gold for your expensive item build.
- If Leona or Nautilus engages on your ADC, instantly cast E between them to slow the diver's follow-through.
02
Mid Game
Protect Objectives, Save R for CC
- Save R for the most dangerous incoming CC in a fight — a Malzahar ult, a Lissandra freeze, a Morgana bind into followup.
- Your W range extension makes your ADC's hypercarry attacks delete enemies from range they shouldn't be able to reach.
- Peel every gank on your ADC. Drop E on the jungler path and W shield your ADC as the gank starts.
- Ward river aggressively. A ganked and killed ADC wastes all the advantage you've been generating.
- Roam only if your ADC is safely pushing. Your R has too much teamfight value to waste on solo roam.
03
Late Game
Cleanse Key CC, Enable Hypercarry
- In big teamfights, identify the most dangerous single CC ability on the enemy team. Save R specifically for that.
- W before your ADC walks into range, not after they start taking damage. Proactive shielding is far stronger than reactive.
- E creates a zone that slows assassins diving your backline. Drop it immediately when a Zed or Akali targets your carry.
- Your passive fire auras mean standing near your ADC boosts their damage passively — don't roam far from them in lategame.
- At 3 items, your shields are enormous. Your ADC effectively has double their actual HP against burst.
Teamfighting
How to Teamfight as Milio
Milio's teamfight is all about perfect R timing. Cleanses at the right moment negate entire fight-winning ults. Outside of R, you provide constant shield value by weaving W onto your carry every time it's off cooldown.
1
Pre-Fight — Position Near ADC
Before engage
01
Stay within passive range of your ADC at all times — your fire aura boosts their DPS passively.
02
Identify the key CC ability on the enemy team. Don't cast R until that ability is used on your carry.
03
W your ADC right as the fight begins to give them the range advantage on the initial burst.
Do NOT waste R on early poke damage or minor slows. Save it specifically for suppression, grabs, or multi-second roots — abilities that would end the fight if they land.
2
Fight — Shield Loop and React
Main fight phase
01
Keep W cycling every cooldown on your ADC. At max haste, this is nearly constant shielding.
02
Drop E between divers and your carry the instant an assassin or flanker targets your backline.
03
Q fleeing enemies to keep them slowed so your team can finish them off.
04
Cast R the moment the key CC ability hits your carry — not before, not after the window closes.
3
Aftermath — Heal, Peel, Chase
Post-fight
01
Continue W shielding through the mop-up phase. Enemies often turn and fight back desperately.
02
E under fleeing enemies to slow their escape for your ADC to chase down.
03
Don't overcommit to chases — your job is to keep your carry alive, not to face-check for kills yourself.
Milio's R also removes Grievous Wounds. If the enemy has Chemtech Putrifier or Morellonomicon, R also purges their healing reduction — use this to full-heal your ADC mid-fight.
Tips & Tricks
Advanced Mechanics & Hidden Tech
Advanced mechanics for Milio.
Basic
W Extends Attack Range
When you W your ADC, their basic attack range increases significantly for the shield duration. Time W at the start of trades so your ADC attacks from outside the enemy's attack range — free damage with no retaliation.
Basic
Q Bounce Targeting
Q bounces to the nearest enemy after hitting the first. Aim Q at a minion closest to the enemy laner — Q will bounce from the minion directly into them. It's a longer-range poke tool than most players realize.
Intermediate
Save R for CC, Not Healing
R heals are nice, but its cleanse is the game-winning value. If you use R for 300 HP heals on poke, you might lose because you can't cleanse a 5-second suppression. Prioritize the cleanse window.
Intermediate
E Under Divers, Not Away from Them
E creates a slow field that persists for several seconds. Drop it directly on top of a diving assassin — they're slowed the entire time they're chasing your carry, giving your team time to react.
Advanced
Passive Aura Positioning
Milio's passive triggers when allies near him attack — stay as close to your ADC as safely possible at all times. Even in late game, being 100 units farther than needed wastes passive procs that stack up to significant damage.
Basic
Spellthief Stacking
Use Q aggressively in the early lane to stack Spellthief charges. Each Q that hits an enemy generates a stack. More gold = better items = better shields sooner.
Advanced
R Removes Grievous Wounds
Milio's R is a full cleanse including all debuffs, including Grievous Wounds. Against Chemtech Putrifier or Morellonomicon supports, time your R to cleanse Grievous Wounds right as your ADC needs to heal through damage.
Matchups
Counters & Matchups
Milio struggles against poke mages with longer range than his Q. He excels against teams with high-value single-target CC that his R directly negates.

Loses Against
Xerath's range exceeds Milio's Q range. He can poke Milio down without being threatened and his R stun goes through your W shield without giving you time to react.
Hug terrain and use minions as cover. You can't out-poke him — play passive and wait for level 6 to threaten with your own R value.
Zyra's plants deal sustained damage that ignores Milio's shields — you constantly take damage through W. Her root + plants combo bursts you faster than you can shield.
Clear Zyra's plants immediately when they spawn — step on them or destroy with abilities. Don't stand in her plant zones and maintain maximum Q range to poke her without entering plant range.
One Blitzcrank hook instantly kills the grabbed ally before you can W-shield. Your R cleanse can't help if the hook leads to a 3-hit combo death in under a second.
Never stand in a line with your ADC — if Blitzcrank hooks your ADC, cast R immediately. Pre-W shield your ADC at all times in bot lane when Blitzcrank is present.
Wins Against
Leona's CC chains are exactly what Milio's R counters. One R cleanses her entire engage and your ADC walks free — her only win condition is gone.
Bait out Leona's E+Q combo on your shield, then R immediately. She'll spend 15+ seconds without CC and your ADC wins the extended fight.
Morgana's Q bind on your ADC is perfectly countered by R cleanse. Her R also gets cleansed before the stun fires. You fundamentally negate her entire kit.
Save R specifically for Morgana's Q bind — cleanse it immediately so your ADC never gets the follow-up damage. Her black shield can't stop your R.
Soraka cannot engage on you and her heals race your shields. You can poke her with Q and zone her with E. Her R heal is countered by buying Morellonomicon or Chemtech Putrifier.
Apply constant Q poke to Soraka. Force her to use her heals defensively rather than helping her ADC. She has no tools to deal with your range and mobility.
