Gameplay

How to Play Ivern

Ivern is a support jungler. You don't carry through damage — you carry by enabling your team. Shields, roots, bushes, and Daisy make your carries unkillable and your enemies unable to escape. Think like a support, not a jungler.

01
Early Game
Unique Clear, Share Buffs
  • Mark camps with passive, then walk to the next one. Come back to collect after the timer. You clear without fighting.
  • At level 5, you can instant-collect buffs. Share Red/Blue with your laners — they love you for it.
  • Your ganks are decent with Q root. Allies who auto the rooted target dash to them for free gap-close.
  • Counter-jungle by marking enemy camps. You steal faster than anyone since you don't need to fight them.
  • Avoid 1v1s entirely. You have no combat power alone. Always be near a teammate.
02
Mid Game
Shield the Carry, Root the Threat
  • Daisy at level 6 gives you a pet tank. Send her into fights while you shield from behind.
  • E your diving bruiser/assassin. The shield protects them and the slow zone helps them stick.
  • Place W bushes in teamfight areas for your ranged auto-attacks and to block enemy vision.
  • Q enemies running from your carry. The root + dash mechanic turns your ADC into a gap-closing machine.
  • Share every buff with laners. Your red goes to ADC, your blue goes to mid. Always.
03
Late Game
Enchanter with Daisy
  • You're a full enchanter now. E shield + Ardent + Moonstone makes your carry nearly unkillable.
  • Daisy tanks Baron/Dragon. Send her in to absorb damage while your team DPSes safely.
  • Q the most dangerous enemy in teamfights. Root their assassin/diver to save your carry.
  • Place W bushes in chokepoints for vision denial. Enemies can't see into brushes you create.
  • Stay behind your team. You are not a frontliner. Shield, root, and let Daisy do the tanking.

Teamfighting

How to Teamfight as Ivern

Ivern stays in the backline, shields carries, roots divers, and sends Daisy to disrupt. You're a support, not a fighter.

1
Setup — Daisy Forward, You Behind
Before engage
01
Send Daisy forward as your frontline.
02
Place W bushes in the fight area for vision control.
03
Stay behind your carries. You're the enchanter.
⚠ WARNING
Never be in front of your team. You have no survivability. One CC = death.
2
Protect — Shield the Carry
During fight
01
E your diving ally for shield + slow zone.
02
Q the enemy diver targeting your carry.
03
Alt+click Daisy to the enemy backline for knockup disruption.
3
Peel — Root and Slow
Extended fight
01
Q any enemy threatening your carry. Root them in place.
02
Re-shield with E as cooldown comes back.
03
Daisy's third auto knocks up. Direct her at clustered enemies.
💡 PRO TIP
Allies can click rooted targets to dash to them. Q the enemy carry and your assassin gets a free gap-close.

Tips & Tricks

Advanced Mechanics & Hidden Tech

Advanced mechanics for Ivern.

Basic
Passive Clearing
You don't fight camps. Channel on them, walk away, come back 40s later to collect. You can mark multiple camps at once.
Intermediate
Buff Sharing
At level 5+, collecting a buff leaves a copy on the ground for an ally. ALWAYS share buffs — Red to ADC, Blue to mid.
Basic
Q Ally Dash
When you Q root an enemy, any ally who auto-attacks that target dashes to them. Ping your ADC to auto the rooted target.
Intermediate
Daisy Control
Alt+click to direct Daisy. Her third consecutive auto on the same target knocks up. Focus her on one target for the knockup.
Advanced
Counter-Jungle
You can mark enemy camps through walls with passive. Walk into enemy jungle, mark camps, walk out. You steal without ever fighting.
Basic
E on Allies
E shields allies AND yourself. In ganks, shield the laner diving the enemy — the slow zone from the shield helps them stick.
Advanced
W Vision Denial
W bushes block vision. Place them in choke points during objective fights to deny the enemy team sight of your positioning.

Matchups

Counters & Matchups

Ivern struggles against invading junglers who can kill him in his own jungle and champions who can burst through his shields. He excels when paired with strong carries he can enchant.

Click any matchup to expand tips & how to play against them
Loses Against
Lee Sin
Lee Sin Hard
Lee Sin invades you and kills you in your own jungle. You have zero 1v1 power.
Ward everything. Give up camps. Play with your strong laners. You outscale his teamfighting.
Graves
Graves Hard
Graves clears faster and invades you freely. His burst kills you through your shields.
Avoid him entirely. Focus on supporting your lanes. Don't contest anything alone.
Nidalee
Nidalee Hard
Nidalee's early aggression destroys your passive clear pattern. She invades and kills you on repeat.
Start opposite side. Clear away from her. Your enchanter value outscales her assassin damage.
Wins Against
Amumu
Amumu Easy
Amumu doesn't invade and can't stop your clear. You both scale, but your shields negate his burst.
Free farm. Shield your carry when Amumu R's. His engage is neutralized by your peel.
Sejuani
Sejuani Easy
Sejuani doesn't threaten you and can't stop your buff-sharing. You both want to teamfight.
Focus on out-supporting her. Your enchanter items + Daisy provide more teamfight value.
Karthus
Karthus Easy
Karthus can't invade you and E shields block his R damage. You negate his global threat.
Shield carries when Karthus R channels. Time your E to block his ult damage.
