The Story of Sejuani
Sejuani was not supposed to survive her childhood. The Winter's Claw raises its children as warriors or doesn't raise them at all, and the specific challenge her grandmother Kalkia presented — abandonment in the Freljord's harshest reaches with nothing — was designed to either kill her or produce someone worthy of leadership. Sejuani survived. The experience removed whatever softness she might have had.
The Winter's Claw under Sejuani's leadership is one of the Freljord's three major powers, and its philosophy is simple: the Freljord's cold is the truth of the world, and strength is the only currency that matters in a place that kills everything weak. She has contempt for Ashe's dreams of unification through diplomacy and respect for Ashe's actual power — which is to say, she is watching to see if the dream is real before she decides whether it's naive or visionary.
She rides Bristle, an enormous war boar, and fights with chains and ice magic drawn from her Iceborn heritage. She is not cruel for cruelty's sake; she is brutal because the Freljord taught her that brutality is simply honest, and she has always preferred honest things to comfortable fictions. What she wants is for the Winter's Claw to survive and dominate — and she's doing better at that than anyone who faced her grandmother's test had any right to expect.
