The Story of Nunu & Willump
Nunu is a Freljordian boy with an exceptional gift for storytelling and an equally exceptional talent for turning his stories into reality through his unusual magic. He lost his mother to the Freljord's dangers when he was young, and he has been searching for her ever since — sustained by the conviction, maintained through stories he tells himself and anyone who will listen, that she is somewhere out there and that a brave enough story can find her.
He met Willump when he was looking for the Yetis of the Freljord — legendary creatures that Freljordian stories treat as monsters. Willump is the last of his kind, and he is nothing like the monster of the stories. He's enormous, powerful, and ferociously loyal to the small boy who approached him without fear. Their bond is immediate, total, and entirely mutual — Nunu gave Willump a companion; Willump gave Nunu a protector and a friend.
Together they are something the Freljord has never quite seen: a boy and a yeti on a quest built from equal parts story and hope. The Freljord is genuinely dangerous. Nunu is genuinely small. None of this seems to slow him down significantly, because he has Willump beside him and an unshakeable belief that the story he's in is the kind where the hero finds what he's looking for. He might be right. Stories have a way of working out for people who believe in them hard enough.
