The Story of Malzahar
Malzahar was a seer — a prophet from Shurima's desert cities who had visions he couldn't explain and a growing madness he couldn't quiet. He had tried every system of meaning available to him: the various Shuriman faiths, the traditions of magic, the pragmatic acceptance that visions might simply be illness. None of them silenced what he heard. Then he followed his visions to the edge of the Shuriman Void breach and heard the Void clearly for the first time.
It was, by his account, a relief. The screaming quieted. The chaos of his visions resolved into a single clear truth: the Void is what is coming, the Void is what is real, and resistance to it is the error, not the Void itself. He became its prophet — its Herald — with a convert's absolute certainty, traveling across Runeterra gathering followers and preparing the ground for what he has decided is inevitable. He does not believe he is doing evil. He believes he is doing the only merciful thing: helping people accept the end gracefully.
Kassadin, whose daughter Kai'Sa the Void claimed, hunts him. Malzahar considers this sad. The man who fights the tide because it took something from him is not someone Malzahar can argue with; he can only wait for Kassadin to understand what he himself eventually understood. The Void does not hate. It consumes. There is a peace in that, if you accept it. Malzahar accepted it completely, and the price was everything that made him a person first.
