The Story of Kayn
Shieda Kayn was a child soldier — an Ionian orphan taken in and trained by Zed's Order of Shadow, one of the most demanding and lethal martial traditions on the continent. He rose through the ranks on talent and ferocity, becoming Zed's most promising student. Then, on a mission into corrupted Ionian territory, he found Rhaast: a darkin scythe of ancient and malevolent power that immediately tried to consume him.
Most people who touch a darkin weapon become hosts, then tools, then nothing. Kayn refused. What followed was — and continues to be — a war of wills inside a single body: Kayn's ambition, discipline, and skill against Rhaast's ancient hunger and experience. Kayn is winning, so far, but only barely, and only because his will is genuinely extraordinary. He doesn't want to be rid of the weapon. He wants to master it — to be the first person who wielded a darkin rather than being wielded by one.
His goal is to become the greatest shadow assassin Runeterra has ever seen, and he's using Rhaast as a power source toward that end. The fact that Rhaast is simultaneously using him as a vehicle for its own corruption is a detail Kayn considers manageable. The Shadow Order is concerned. Zed watches. Rhaast waits. And Kayn trains, because discipline is the only thing that's kept him himself, and he has no intention of stopping now.
