Darius

the Hand of Noxus

There is no greater symbol of Noxian might than Darius, the nation's most feared and battle-hardened commander. Rising from humble origins to become the Hand of Noxus, he cleaves through the empire's enemies—many of them Noxians themselves. Knowing that he never doubts his cause is just, and never hesitates once his axe is raised, those who stand against the leader of the Trifarian Legion can expect no mercy.

Origin & Background

The Story of Darius

Darius earned the title Hand of Noxus not through birth or politics but through the kind of performance that Noxian philosophy was built to reward: he was simply the most effective general the empire had, and the most effective generals in Noxus eventually hold the most power. He fought his way up from the ranks with an axe and a record of victories that each built on the last, and by the time the title was formalized, it was already functionally true.

His philosophy is not complicated. Noxus is strongest when its people are strong, and its people are strongest when weakness is identified and cut away rather than accommodated. He applies this to warfare — he commits fully, drives through the center, breaks enemies completely rather than leaving them capable of reconstituting — and to governance, which he understands as warfare conducted with different tools. He is not subtle and has no patience for subtlety in others.

His brother Draven is the most complicated personal relationship in his otherwise straightforwardly organized life. He loves Draven in the way Noxus teaches love — by demanding strength, by refusing to shield him from consequences, by expressing frustration at the spectacle rather than the substance. He would not want Draven to fail. He would also not admit this. The Hand of Noxus does not admit to things that look like sentiment, and whatever he feels about his brother is close enough to sentiment that he declines to examine it closely.
