The Story of Elise
Elise was born into Noxian nobility, blessed with wealth, beauty, and the social intelligence to use both. She was also aging, and Noxian society had no interest in women who lost their youth. When she heard rumors of a spider god on the Shadow Isles — a power that could grant eternal beauty and life — she went looking, the way Noxian nobles go looking for things: with resources and ruthlessness.
She found Vilemaw, the Spider God. The bargain she struck granted what she asked for: eternal youth, the ability to assume a spider's form, and a web of power she could weave through anyone who served the Spider God's interests. The price was absolute: she became Vilemaw's vessel on the living world, luring victims to the Shadow Isles as offerings, sustaining the god's influence through the devoted sacrifices she recruits and delivers.
Elise does not consider this a bad deal. She is beautiful, she is powerful, she is immortal, and she has found that human sacrifices are easier to recruit than you'd expect — hope and desperation make excellent bait. Whether she truly believes in Vilemaw or simply uses it as a framework for what she'd be doing anyway is a question she has never found interesting. She got what she wanted. The method is incidental.
